“The insurance industry is steadily growing and many positions are available in a variety of sectors—so car insurance is a great field!
To start a career in insurance, you’ll first need to get licensed.
Anyone who wants to sell
car insurance
needs a personal lines license or broker license. Most companies also require agents to be licensed—even if you’d like to go into something like customer service.
To find out how to get licensed in your state, contact your state’s Department of Insurance. Since insurance is state-regulated, the department will have all the information on getting licensed.
Most states require that you take a course on insurance before you can take your licensing test. These courses vary in hours, but you can expect to spend at least 20 hours on them.
After passing the course, you can register to take your licensing exam. Once you pass your exam, you’ll be able to start looking for jobs. In some instances, you may be able to find an entry-level job with a car insurance company that will pay for you to get licensed.
If you’re going into insurance, you probably already know the importance of shopping around for great rates! The easiest way to find a great policy at a great price is to go to
