How can I see if my car is insured?

For years now, my husband has insured my car. Now we’re separated and going through a divorce, and I’m not sure if my car is still insured. How do I see if my car is insured?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through this, and I hope you’re doing well. If you are the owner of your car, you may request your
car insurance
information from your local DMV.
You will likely need to provide the following:
  • The car’s make, model, and year
  • Vehicle identification number (VIN)
  • Registration
  • Proof of identification
You may also be able to simply call and check with your insurance company. Your insurance card should be somewhere in your vehicle. If you can locate it, the card will likely provide all the information you need to figure out your policy’s status.
If you find out that you are no longer insured, don’t fret—you can download the
Jerry
app for free. A licensed broker that offers end-to-end support, the Jerry app gathers affordable quotes and helps buy your new plan. The average Jerry user saves $879 a year on car insurance.
