How can I replace the door handle on my 1996 Toyota Camry?

While helping my sister move, one of the boxes in the back seat broke off one of the door handles. I’ve had my 1996 Toyota Camry for years now and I want to keep it in the best condition I can. Is there any way I can replace the door handle?

It’s completely understandable to want to keep your car in the best condition possible, but if you’re uncomfortable handling tools or making repairs, you may want to leave this repair to the professionals and avoid causing any damage to your door.
If you do feel comfortable making your own repairs, you can replace the door handle on your 1996
Toyota Camry
by following these steps:
  1. Remove the door panel by removing the screw inside of the door handle.
  2. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the handle bezel off.
  3. Remove the 10mm bolts from the handle with a wrench. There should be three of them.
  4. Install the new handle by clipping the lock rod from the handle onto the door lock.
  5. Replace the 10mm bolts, screws, and door panel.
