How can I replace the battery in my Toyota key fob?

One of the key fobs for my Toyota died a while ago, but instead of changing the battery, I decided to just use the other one. Unfortunately, I lost the working one and am now stuck with the dead one. How do I put a new battery in my Toyota key fob?

Oh, no! Good thing you have—or had—two remotes.
Replacing the battery in your
Toyota
key fob is a quick and easy process if you follow these simple steps:
  1. Buy the right battery type for your key fob. If you’re not sure which type of battery to buy, check your owner’s manual.
  2. Use the button at the top of your key fob to remove the manual key from the fob.
  3. Use a flathead screwdriver to separate the halves of the key fob.
  4. Take out the green circuit board very carefully.
  5. Remove the old battery and put the new one in.
  6. Snap the key fob back together and return the key to its housing.
Now that your key fob battery has been replaced, you can enjoy the convenience of being able to remotely unlock your vehicle. If you’re interested in more car-related convenience, check out the
