Can you remove sun spots from car paint? Living in Florida, there is hot and sunny weather for more than half the year. My car paint has faded from the sunlight and constant heat, is there a way to fix my paintwork?

Having sunshine and nice weather most of the year must be nice! Although it’s a hassle for car maintenance, thankfully, you can remove sun spots from car paint. Follow these instructions to restore your car’s paint:
  • Step one: Wash your vehicle properly using a car soap, washing mitts, a hose, two buckets of water, and a microfiber towel.
  • Step two: Apply a polishing compound using a hand applicator. If you have a buffer, you may use that instead of the applicator.
  • Step three: Wipe away the polishing compound with a thin and clean microfiber cloth. This step will be the most labor-intensive and require more time to complete. That said, pay attention to detail as you wipe away the polish to create a shiny finish.
  • Step four: Apply carnauba wax with a hand applicator or microfiber towel as a preventative measure from future dirt and damage from the sunlight. You may also use a buffer instead to apply the wax.
As this DIY will be a temporary fix, you may want to visit a
body shop
and have them apply a ceramic coating over your paintwork for a more permanent solution.
Ceramic coating will last for years and protect the vehicle paint from scratches, sunlight, paint chips, and other damage. The carnauba wax, on the other hand, will only last a few months before needing another application.
