How can I remove stains from my car seats?

I was the designated driver on this weekend’s trip to the city, and this morning I discovered a whole bunch of random stains and garbage in my back seat. I have cloth seats so the stains are really staying in there. How can I get these stains off of my car seats?

Hats off to you for being the designated driver all weekend! After vacuuming and removing any large debris, here are some easy ways to remove stains from your car seats:
  • Club soda. Lightly spray the stained area and scrub with a brush. Wipe the area clean with a clean towel, and repeat as necessary.
  • Vinegar mixture. Mix one cup of vinegar, a few drops of dish soap, and about a gallon of hot water in a bucket. Dab the mixture onto the stain and use a brush to scrub. Use clean water to rinse the seat off, and then towel dry. (This is a particularly effective method if you have a lot of staining!)
  • Laundry detergent. Mix laundry detergent with hot water and apply to the stains. Use a towel with cold water to rinse the detergent off and scrub away the stain.
  • Baking soda solution. Mix ¼ cup of baking soda with one cup of warm water. Apply a light layer of the solution and use a toothbrush to scrub away the stain. For stubborn stains, let the solution sit for 30 minutes before scrubbing.
While you’re waiting for your baking soda solution to set, it might also be a good idea to make sure that your
