How can I remove salt from my car rugs?
I’m from Arizona but recently moved to Chicago. I’ve never dealt with real winter weather before. Thankfully, my car seems to handle in the snow okay, but I’m stumped on how to get rid of salt stains on my car rugs.

“Salt can be a real pain throughout the winter season. Luckily, there are several ways to remove salt from car rugs.
If you’re looking for a more do-it-yourself remedy, try filling a spray bottle with equal parts warm water and vinegar. Spray the solution on the salt-stained parts of your car mats, then firmly press a cloth on the wet spot for a few seconds. Lift and repeat as necessary until the stain is gone.
Be sure to fold or switch out the cloth as necessary so you aren’t putting salt back onto the mat with the dirty cloth.
If you find the salt is still lingering, there are a number of store-bought alternatives to the aforementioned DIY cleaner. Simply buy a carpet-cleaning solution from any retailer, then follow the directions on the product’s label.
Be sure to dry your car mats thoroughly before putting them back in the car. You can do this with a wet/dry vacuum cleaner or simply allow them to air dry outside.
