How can I protect my car from scratches?

I've noticed several scratches on the exterior of my car, but I have no idea where they're coming from. I know damage to paint can be expensive to repair, and I want to keep my car as safe as possible. How do I protect my car from random scratches?

“Random scratches are always frustrating; I’m sorry to hear that! To protect your car from future scratches, try adding a clear coat barrier or a protective film to your vehicle. However, you don’t have to cover the entire car; it’s more cost-effective to cover the problematic or exposed areas.
For the scratches that are already there, you may find that your
comprehensive coverage
on your
car insurance
will cover the damage. This isn’t a hard and fast rule, but it’s worth a shot if you have significant scratches from incidents that aren’t related to a collision.
If you don’t currently have comprehensive coverage and you think these scratches might occur in the future, you may want to add it to your current plan. One of the easiest ways to do this is through the
Jerry app
—we’ll get you personalized quotes from top-of-the-line providers so that all you have to do is choose which plan works best for you. If you do choose to switch plans or providers, we’ll help with that, too!
Good luck on repairing the scratches, and I wish you a pristine coat in the future!”
