How can I program my BMW garage door opener without the old remote?

This is so annoying! I’m trying to program my BMW’s garage door opener, but everything I can find about how to do that says I need to have an old working garage remote to do so. There’s got to be a way to program the [BMW](https://getjerry.com/car-insurance/bmw-insurance-cost) opener without an old one, right? I lost the old one years ago.

I wish I had better news for you—but unfortunately, you cannot program your
BMW
garage door opener without the old remote.
There is a specific code that your garage door opener sends to the door to get it to open. Think of it like a digital key stored in the remote. So when you program the opener in your BMW, it has to “learn” this code from the old remote.
Without an already working opener, there’s no key for your BMW HomeLink garage door opener to copy.
