How can I prevent my car battery being stolen?

I’ve had my car battery stolen twice, even though I live in a decent neighborhood. What are some tips to prevent the car battery from being taken by thieves?

Sorry to hear that thieves keep stealing your battery! While your
comprehensive coverage
will help you get reimbursed for the battery, preventative measures can make your life much easier. To prevent the battery from being stolen, you can purchase and install an anti-theft product.
While there are many different types of anti-theft devices, here are three of the most common options:
  • Anti-theft or security alarms are cheap, and they’ll go off when someone either gets too close to your car or tries to open the hood.
  • Lockboxes fasten around your battery and stick it in place so they can’t be easily removed.
  • It’s also common for people to use hood rigs to prevent thieves from accessing the engine block in the first place.
Alternatively, some car owners will buy old batteries/battery cases and replace them with their real batteries once they park. If someone steals the decoy—no harm done!
To offset the price of a new anti-theft device, start saving on car insurance with
