How can I lower my USAA car insurance rate?

I've been with USAA for decades and I'm happy with their service. However, my insurance rates went up quite a bit last period, even without an accident, ticket, or claim. Is there any reason this might have happened? And how can I lower my USAA car insurance rate?

“I’m sorry that happened—unexpected rate increases can be rough, and the reasoning behind them, like a move, or adding a higher-risk driver to your policy, can be surprising. However, there are a couple ways to lower your rate again.
To lower the car insurance rate that you pay with USAA, you have several options:
  • Maintain a solid, on-time payment history
  • Research various discounts offered by USAA, such as a multi-car discount
  • Reduce your amount of coverage
  • Change your coverage to liability only
  • Raise your comprehensive coverage deductible
If you’re still unsatisfied with USAA’s rates, check out other rates with Jerry. Jerry is an insurance broker that provides you with numerous rates from over 50 different insurance companies so you always find the best rate.
Best of luck with lowering your premium back down again—you’ve got this!”
