How can I lower my car insurance deductible?

I've always had a higher deductible since I don't make a ton of money, but although I'm a careful driver, I'm realizing that's not very sensible—I'd rather pay more money up front per month than pay a ton of money out of pocket if I'm at fault in a car accident. How can I lower my deductible?

“Good on you for thinking ahead! The easiest way to lower your
car insurance deductible
is to make a quick call to your car insurance provider or go to their website.
You should be able to adjust your deductible either way. If you lower your deductible, keep in mind that you may pay up to 15% to 40% more per month. However, you won’t have to pay nearly as much out of pocket if you’re in a collision.
If you lower your deductible and find that your rates go up too much for you to afford as a result, it might be wise to shop around with different providers. The easiest way to do this is to use the
Jerry
app—we’ll get you multiple quotes from different top-of-the-line providers, so all you have to do is choose the plan that works best for you. (And if you want to switch, we’ll even help with that, too!)
Best of luck, and drive safely!”
