How can I keep raccoons out of the garden?
I’ve had raccoons picking through my trash several times before, but recently I noticed they had gotten into my garden and eaten some of my vegetable plants! How do I keep them out?

Raccoons are clever creatures, and keeping them out of things can prove challenging. The best way to keep them out of your garden is to keep water and food supplies out of reach at night. Certain homemade repellants can also be effective for keeping raccoons out of your yard.
Here are some other tricks for keeping raccoons away from your yard:
- Sprinkle baby powder or blood meal on your vegetable plants
- Use a live trap to relocate the raccoons
- Build a fence using chicken wire or netting to prevent raccoons from entering your garden
- Use baffles on fruit trees to stop them from climbing
- Hang bird feeders in a place that’s inaccessible to raccoons
- Install motion-sensor floodlights (raccoons have an aversion to light)
