How can I improve the gas mileage on a Honda Ridgeline?

It is understandable why you would want to improve the
gas mileage
on your Honda Ridgeline. After all, it means more money in your pocket!
Try out these tips for better fuel efficiency:
  • Drive at a constant pace. Drivers living in the city generally have lower gas mileage because they need to press and release the gas pedal frequently. If you are driving in the city, try to moderate your speed so that you are not speeding up or slowing down as often and instead driving at a more constant speed.
  • Keep the vehicle properly maintained.
    Regular maintenance
on your car can help improve gas mileage because it ensures all the internal car parts are working correctly to help support the engine. If you are long overdue for an
    oil change
or replacing the fuel filter, it will cause the engine to work harder and burn up more fuel, lowering your gas mileage.
  • Keep properly inflated tires. Refer to your owner’s manual—or look on the actual tire—to figure out your car’s recommended
    tire pressure
. Having under-inflated wheels will drag your vehicle, which can reduce fuel efficiency.
  • Remove unnecessary heavy equipment from the car. Do your best to keep your Ridgeline light and free from unnecessary items stored in the backseat or trunk. The heavier your car is the harder your engine will work, which results in burning more fuel and lowering gas mileage.
  • Limit use of the air conditioner. Avoid using the air conditioner constantly, as it requires more energy from the engine—thus more gas. However, if you decide to drive with all the windows down, this can actually increase the drag of your Ridgeline, as well. The best compromise is finding a good balance between these two options.
  • Install a cold air intake system. If you are interested in taking things a step further to improve your gas mileage, install a cold air intake system to allow more oxygen to flow into your truck’s combustion chamber to help burn fuel more efficiently.
Hopefully, these tips will help improve your Honda Ridgeline’s gas mileage!
