How can I get insured on my parents’ car?

Can I be added to my parents’ insurance? Getting my own insurance is super expensive and I just can’t afford it right now.

“We understand—insurance is super expensive, especially if you’re just starting to support yourself.
To get insured on your parents’ car, you’ll need to ask them to contact their insurance provider. Only the named insured can make changes to a policy.
Do you live in your parents’ household and use their car regularly? If so then yes, you’re right. It’s a good idea to be listed on their policy.
If you do not not live in their household and only plan on using their car every now and then, adding yourself as an
occasional operator
would work, too!
But driver beware: If you do not live in their household and use the car on a regular basis, this will pose a problem for your insurance company. When you are no longer considered a dependent and live at a different location than your parents, you need to get your own policy.
If you don’t, the insurance company will consider this fronting, which is a form of insurance fraud. Fronting is when another person (usually a parent or older driver) claims to be the main driver of a vehicle when actually the main driver is a younger, inexperienced person. The car should be insured on your own policy if this is your scenario, and you should be listed as the main driver, not your parents.
But there’s an exception for every rule. If you’re off to college and you take your parents’ car—and they add your name to their insurance—then you’re okay.
