I got into an auto accident a couple months ago and my rates have gone up so much since then. I'm considering finding a new insurer. How can you get cheap car insurance after an accident?

Sorry to hear about your increased rates! Luckily for you, there are a few things you can do (even after an accident) to try to find a better insurance rate:
- Improve your personal credit. A poor credit score makes you a riskier person to insure. Increasing your credit score will help you score lower rates in the future.
- Drive or switch to an economy vehicle. The more expensive the car, the higher your premiums will be. Cars with the latest safety features may make you eligible for a safe vehicle discount.
- Shop aroundwith multiple providers. Some providers are more forgiving toward drivers with accident histories than others. Chances are you’ll find a cheaper quote the more providers you investigate.
Almost all providers offer multiple discounts to help you save on your premiums no matter your accident history. You may be eligible for a multi-policy discount by bundling home and auto or a multi-vehicle discount by adding a second car to your policy.
