 on a used car, start by figuring out what vehicle you want to purchase.
Once you know the vehicle, jot down its VIN or vehicle identification number. From there, you can request

 from various insurance companies. By doing this, you can get an idea of what the cost of insurance will be on your new car.
If you’re planning on getting a loan, confirm what coverage you will need on your insurance policy. Most lenders require that you carry both
comprehensive insurance
 and
collision insurance
.
