How can I get a title for my car in NC?
I’m trying to sell my old Jeep but I can’t seem to find the title anywhere. How can I get a replacement title for my car in North Carolina?

Your car’s title is crucial if you’re going to sell. Luckily, the process to get a title for your car in North Carolina is quite simple.
You can either get a new title in person or by mail. Either way, the fee will be just $15.
In Person
- Visit your local Division of Motor Vehicles office and fill out the Application for a Duplicate Title (Form MVR-4), which will need to be notarized.
- Present your valid driver’s license and your vehicle’s VIN.
- Pay the $15 fee by check, money order, or cash.
By Mail
- Fill out the same Form MVR-4 and provide your VIN.
- Pay the $15 fee by check or money order.
- Mail your information to the address on the form.
Be sure to remove the vehicle from your
