How can I format my USB for Tesla’s Sentry Mode? I heard you could start recording things inside your Tesla now to prevent vandalism or theft. But I need to format my USB for it.

Tesla’s latest update makes protecting your vehicle from
theft or vandalism
incredibly easy with its Sentry Mode. All you need is a USB. You need to go through a few specifications first to this up:
- In order to store videos on the USB device, your Tesla must have at least Autopilot Hardware 2.5.
- If you have Autopilot 2.0, Sentry Mode will work but will not store any videos.
- Make sure you have a USB with the file system FAT32 for Windows or Ext4 for Linux.
- Many 32 GB USBs already have FAT32 from the manufacturer, so if you want to skip some technical steps, just purchase at 32 GB USB.
If all that tech jargon sounds intimidating, then Tesla can help format a USB. All you have to do is:
- Plug your USB device in one of the USB ports (usually under your Tesla screen).
- Go to “Navigation” or “Settings.”
- Tap on “Security.”
- Scroll down until you see “Format USB Device” and your USB will be formatted directly!
Note, formatting often means completely erasing a device, so be sure you don’t have anything valuable stored on your USB before doing so.
