Congrats on the new-to-you car; I’m glad to hear that it runs well. Spider cracks are a common issue in older vehicles but don’t worry, you can take care of the issue from home. You will need to purchase the following:
Two-part urethane clear coat spray
Each of these items can be purchased at your local auto shop, department store, or ordered online. Once you have these items you can start the process of fixing spider cracks in your car paint by following these steps:
Dry sand the affected areas with your 320-grit sandpaper. Do this gently and just enough to even the area.
Spray the sanded area with part one of your two-part clear coat spray. Follow the instructions on the package and apply part two.
Wait a full day for the area to dry.
Wet sand the area with your 600-grit sandpaper until the new coat is seamless with the old coat.
If cracks remain, repeat this process.
