How can I fix faded car paint?

I’ve had my Lexus for a few years now and I’m noticing the paint job is getting pretty faded. Can you restore faded car paint?

“Faded car paint is a really common problem—especially if you live in a sunny state like California or Arizona.
Fortunately, you can fix faded car paint on your own. Here’s how.
Step 1: Gather Supplies
  • Two buckets of water—one for soap and one for rinsing
  • Car wash shampoo of your choice
  • Washing mitt, sponge, or cloth
  • High-quality clay bar
  • Machine buffer
  • Car buffing compound
  • Paint protection, such as car polish, wax, or ceramic coating—if you plan on doing the entire car
  • Polish pads and microfiber buffing pads
Step 2: Wash the Car Pour the soap into one bucket of water; swish it around. Using the mitt, sponge, or cloth, soap up the areas of the car you are going to fix. Use the clean water to rinse the soap off. Be sure to remove as much dirt and contaminants as possible for the best results.
Step 3: Use a Clay Bar A clay bar is best used to remove any surface debris or uneven paint and will set up a smooth canvas for buffing.
Step 4: Begin Buffing
  • Soak your buffing pad in water
  • Apply buffing compound to the soaked pad and the faded area
  • Buff the area
  • Repeat as necessary (at least three times is recommended)
  • Inspect the paint
  • If it looks good, apply one final round of buffing compound
Restoring your car’s paint job is an excellent way to keep your vehicle looking great and maintain its value. While you’re at it, make sure your car is protected by great car insurance at a great price. The
