Our ceiling fan recently stopped spinning. I’m not sure why, but the weather is supposed to get warmer, so I’d like to fix it before then. How do you fix a ceiling fan that’s stopped spinning?

A ceiling fan is essential to staying cool, so hopefully, we can get it working again! To fix a ceiling fan that stopped spinning, you’ll want to first check the power and ensure the light switch is in the proper position.
First, you can check your fuse or circuit breaker to make sure a fuse isn’t blown. You can also turn the breaker on and off to reset the fan. If that doesn’t work, check the light switch and pull cord.
Sometimes, the pull cord and light switch are uncoordinated, meaning one is off while the other is on. Be sure the light switch is in the proper position before pulling the cord.
If that doesn’t work, you likely have an issue with your ceiling fan’s motor. While you can certainly replace a motor yourself, you may want to consider calling a professional. An electrician or heating and cooling specialist can help replace the motor or investigate why your ceiling fan has stopped spinning.
