How can I fix a broken car handle?
Can a broken car handle be fixed? I’m worried about the cost for a professional to fix my door handle. Can I fix this myself?

Great question!
If your
car door
is malfunctioning, it’s probably time to replace the handle. To fix it, you will need the following: - Painter’s tape or automotive masking tape
- Philips screwdriver
- A replacement door handle
Step one: Look for the fasteners on the door jamb. You can also refer to the replacement car handle to see what the fasteners look like and how to install them. Unscrew anything holding the door handle together.
Step two: Take the painter’s tape and cover up areas around the door handle. The tape will protect your car’s paintwork as you disassemble and replace the car handle.
Step three: Take out the faulty car handle by sliding the handle towards the front of your car. Next, the rear end of the handle should lift and allow you to slide the whole handle off the car.
Step four: Install the new replacement handle. Ensure all the rubber gaskets are in place for you to slide the front end of the door handle into the slots. Slide the large end after. Ensure the mechanisms engage to secure the handle.
Step five: Place the fasteners on the door jamb. Do not tighten the fasteners yet. Clip and tighten the door jamb fasteners. Then tighten any other parts or fasteners.
Step six: Test out the new door handle by locking it and checking the alarm. If it works and you’re happy, place the plastic plugs back to cover the holes on the handle.
