I know my car is insured but can’t find the policy details if my life depended on it. How can I find out what types of insurance I have?

Don’t worry, people lose their policy documents all the time! You can find out the
types of insurance
your car has by taking a look at your policy’s declaration page. If you cannot find your declaration page, you will likely be able to access it online through your car insurance company’s website (if they offer this service) or the company app. If you cannot access it online, you should check your email inbox to see if it has ever been sent to you or give your insurance company a call and request a replacement.
The declaration page should have the following listed:
- Named insured and any additional drivers
- The vehicles insured
- The effective dates of coverage
- Any supplemental coverages you have purchased
- Any discounts that have been applied to your policy
While reviewing your coverage, you may also want to consider shopping around to make sure you are not overpaying for your car insurance.
