It sounds as if you have a 2016 or later Pilot. In these models, the Honda Pilot battery location is underneath the long, hard black plastic panel that covers the first section of the engine compartment.
Carefully release the clips holding the panel in place and then pull up on the protective panel. Next, you will need to remove a second plastic cover on the driver’s side of the engine compartment that covers the battery itself.
