How can I file a complaint against my car insurance company?

Is there a way to file a complaint against my insurance agent?

Every time I call them, they are so rude! I am put on hold for hours on end just to get an answer to a simple question. And once I get an agent on the line, they usually don't sound like they know what they are doing. It’s really frustrating and I’d like to file a complaint, if I can—is there any way for me to do so?

Answer
If you aren’t getting quality customer service from your car insurance company, you should definitely file a complaint and shop around for a better provider! Customer service is an essential part of having confidence in your insurance carrier.
Next time you call, ask to speak to a supervisor. Is there a reason that you aren’t able to get help quickly? For example, ask if the high call volume is standard or maybe just seasonal? You can also ask if there’s a better time of day to call that will ensure faster service.
Several carriers allow access to policy information via app or online. This might work better for you, since they also have chat features and the response time for chats is usually very fast—often under a minute or less.
If the service is consistently bad, leave a review on their website and social media pages. You can even file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. It is important for other customers who are shopping for insurance to have realistic expectations from this particular company.
