How can I clean my rubber car mats?
My family and I have been doing a lot of hiking and outdoor activities recently, and my rubber car mats have suffered for it. They’re dirty beyond belief and I’m a little worried I’ll have to buy new ones. Any tips on how I can clean them first?

Rubber car mats are made to take all sorts of abuse from mud, stains, salt, and more. Luckily, they are significantly easier to clean than cloth mats. Gather the following supplies:
- Five-gallon bucket
- Garden hose
- Soft-bristle brush
- Dish soap
- Vacuum
Start by removing the mats from your car and laying them out flat. While they’re out of the car, take this opportunity to vacuum your car’s carpet.
Spray your rubber mats down with a hose. This is most effective if you have a high-pressure nozzle to remove stubborn dirt and harder particles.
Grab your bucket, soap, and brush. Fill the bucket with about two inches of water and pour in some liquid soap. Mix these with the brush and begin scrubbing at the mats. Be sure to scrub any tight spaces or crevices.
Rinse the mats and allow them to air dry completely before putting them back into your vehicle.
