How can I check to see what car insurance coverage I have?

My parents and I have the same car insurance company and we recently got into a discussion about who pays more, but I realized I have no idea what my policy details are. How can I check to see what coverages I have?

To find out what car insurance coverages you have, you will need to locate your policy’s
declaration page
.
The declaration page will have the following listed:
  • Named insured and any additional drivers
  • The vehicles insured
  • Policy number
  • The effective dates of coverage
  • The
    types of insurance
    and your coverage limits
  • Any supplemental coverages you have purchased
If you can’t find the declaration page, see if you can access it online or give your
car insurance
company a call to request a copy.
Now that you’re already comparing coverages and cost with your parents, also consider using
