How can I check if someone is insured on a car?

While driving in some heavy rain, I accidentally swiped someone’s car and broke their mirror. Because I was in the middle of a flash flood, I got out of there as quickly as I could. I returned the next day and the car was still there, so I contacted the police to file a report. But I would like to know if the car is insured. How can I check if someone is insured on a car?

Given the situation, it seems like you definitely did the right thing by getting yourself out of immediate danger and returning the next day. Generally, if a car is being driven on the road, it is more than likely insured—it’s illegal to drive without it.
However, since you came back and filed a report with the police, you should be able to use that report to request the other driver’s
car insurance
information. You can make this request with the police or local DMV. But be aware that they may refuse to give out this information if they feel your cause is not just.
If the accident causes your car insurance rates to go up, consider shopping for a new policy with the
