How can I charge a car’s AC without a vacuum pump?

I need to charge my car’s AC but I’ve heard that people usually do it with a vacuum pump. I don’t really want to spend the money for it. How can I charge a car AC without a vacuum pump?

Charging your air conditioner without a pump is possible! Follow these steps to get it done:
  • Relieve the pressure in the air conditioner system’s access valves.
  • Turn the low-pressure side of the air conditioner to 14 psi.
  • Remove the pressure from the higher valve.
  • Continuously adjust the pressure to 14 psi. Then, equalize it on either side for four minutes.
  • Add the suggested amount of refrigerant to your air conditioning system and switch off the compressor.
Your AC should now be recharged!
If these steps are more than what you’re comfortable with, seek the help of a
mechanic
. While this will cost more money, it will ensure the work is correct and avoid any future damage.
