How can I change the name on my insurance card if I legally changed my name?

I recently changed my legal name and I'm in the process of changing my name on legal documents and bank accounts. However, I'm not sure how to change my name on my insurance card—so what's the process of changing my name with my insurance company?

“Congrats on the name change!
In order to change the name on your insurance card, call your
car insurance
company and tell them about your legal name change. You may have to send them proper documentation, but most of the time this process is hassle-free. You may even be able to make the change to your car online.
Oftentimes, you can get a digital copy of your new insurance card sent to your email. Until you get a paper copy of your card, download a copy to your phone to serve as
proof of insurance
.
One easy way to do this is to use the wallet feature in the
Jerry
app. With Jerry, you can download important pictures and documents to save in your wallet, so you’ll be able to have your updated insurance card at the ready at all times. (And if you want to make sure your current plan and provider are giving you the best deal on your coverage, we can help you figure that out, too!)
Congratulations again on the name change, and hope that all goes smoothly with changing your documents!”
