I am about to graduate high school and was thinking about my future career options. Being an insurance agent seems like a nice gig—good money, pretty stable. How can I become a car insurance agent?

It’s great that you’re thinking so far ahead, and you’re right! Careers in insurance are often very stable.
Most insurance companies only require their employees to have a high school degree or a GED. Although, a bachelor’s degree will help you move into management faster.
You’ll also need to acquire a license in your insurance field of interest before you become an agent. To earn your license you’ll need to:
- Complete a state-accepted course
- Dedicate about 40 hours to studying
- Pass the licensing exam
But, you can start applying to different insurance companies as soon as you have your license.
