How are electric cars manufactured?
I was wondering if, with electric cars, it’s one of those situations where you find out all the cereal brands are all owned by one brand, Kellogg’s. Does Tesla make all the electric cars? How are electric cars manufactured?

What a fun question! There’s no such monopoly on electric cars–usually, a car brand will manufacture their own
electric cars
.Tesla is the biggest name brand, but brands like Volkswagen and Ford and Nissan all make their own designs and EVs.
Here is the general high-level process of manufacturing an electric car:
Design:
- Use lightweight materials
- Incorporate many safety measures
- Include electric motor and battery
Construction
- Cut out and weld the metal parts
- Add electric drive components and steering mechanism
- Test parts for safety
- Test drive for safety
The real electric car manufacturing process is of course much more complicated, and each company is sure to have their own approach to manufacturing an electric car.
