How are electric cars cheaper to maintain?

I’ve heard that one of the perks of buying an electric car is not only saving money on gas but saving money on repairs. Is this true, and if so, how are electric cars cheaper to maintain?

One of the big reasons it might be cheaper to maintain your new
electric car
 is because they are overall less mechanically complex than their gas-powered rivals.
Some examples of why electric cars require less maintenance overall include:
  • No need for regular fluid changes such as engine oil
  • Less wear on brakes due to regenerative braking
  • Fewer parts overall than a standard combustion engine
