Can veterans’ family members get USAA insurance?

Can our daughter get USAA insurance if her father served in the service with an honorable discharge, but the father does not use USAA coverage?

While
USAA
primarily reserves its products for active members of the military, their coverage does also extend to veterans and their family members.
USAA offers membership to individuals who meet the following criteria:
  • Honorably discharged veterans
  • Spouses of current or former service members
  • Children of current or former service members
  • Current service members
  • Pre-commissioned officers
That being said, your daughter won’t be able to use USAA unless her father joins as a member first. In order to purchase USAA car insurance, the company will require a membership number.
If your daughter’s father doesn’t want to join USAA, she won’t qualify to use their coverage—but you still have options for finding affordable insurance. Shopping around with multiple insurance companies is the best way to find the
