Does Volkswagen have a rust warranty?
I owned a 1990s-era Volkswagen in the past, but it suffered from some severe rust problems. A new Volkswagen looks like a good buy, but I’m still having flashbacks of that rust. Does Volkswagen offer any sort of rust warranty on their new vehicles?

Volkswagen
had issues with rust in the past, the build has become considerably better. To top it all off, Volkswagen does have a rust warranty. Also known as corrosion perforation, this warranty covers some types of rust damage for 7 years or 100,000 miles—whichever comes first.The 7-year warranty will only cover rust damage that’s the result of a manufacturer’s defect. In most cases, this means that the rust damage must occur from the inside of the sheet metal to the outside, which is a clear-cut indicator of lackluster fabrication.
Rust that forms on the exterior or isn’t proven to come from the interior of the car’s body is normally considered wear and tear or exposure to the elements, which means it would not be covered by the Volkswagen warranty.
