Does the Toyota warranty cover paint?

I’ve looked over the Toyota warranty on new cars and it seems to cover just about anything. However, I want to make sure it covers the paint before I make the purchase. Will the Toyota warranty cover the paint under all circumstances?

It’s great that you’re taking the time to look over the warranty before you sign off on a new car! The
Toyota
warranty covers paint defects such as flaking or peeling for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
However, it will not cover certain types of paint damage, specifically, if it’s the result of wear and tear and not a manufacturer’s defect. Some instances where your paint would not be covered include paint chips from debris while driving, paint scratches, or damage due to vandalism.
However, your comprehensive insurance coverage may cover these situations, provided you have this type of coverage. If you take out a loan, your lender requires comprehensive coverage, so you’d be covered in that case.
