Does the Texas TollTag work in Illinois?
I’m super pumped to be going on a road trip to Chicago at the end of the year! In preparation for my trip, I wanted to know which electronic Texas toll payment system will also work in other states. Does the Texas TollTag work in Illinois?

A winter road trip sounds amazing. Have a safe trip!
The Texas TollTag will not work in Illinois. The same goes for the TxTag electronic toll payment system. The most convenient and cost-effective way to travel toll roads in Illinois is with an I-PASS or E-ZPass.
The good news is that visitors without these transponders can use Pay by Plate from the Illinois Tollway to pay tolls safely and securely and avoid costly fines and fees. In essence, a camera tracks the tolls your vehicle passes through using your license plate, and a bill is mailed to the address associated with your vehicle registration.
Should that address be incorrect, all you need to do is to provide your plate number and dates of travel to access your bill online on the Pay by Plate website.
