Does the Hyundai warranty cover paint chips?

I have a fairly new Hyundai vehicle that’s still under warranty. When I was getting into my car the other day, I noticed three sizable paint chips on the hood but I’m not sure if I’ll have to pay to repair them or not. Will the Hyundai warranty cover paint chips?

While
Hyundai
offers a three-year, 36,000-mile paint warranty, this warranty will not cover paint chips. Paint chips are considered normal wear and tear on a car, not a manufacturer’s defect. However, if the paint blemishes were due to peeling and the vehicle is still under warranty, Hyundai would repair the paint with no cost to you.
That said, you can always consider
comprehensive coverage
and
collision coverage
in the future. Comprehensive coverage would cover paint chips if it’s the result of vandalism or an act of God, while collision coverage would repair paint chips if they’re the result of an accident.
