Does the Ford warranty cover the windshield?

I was driving to work the other day when I noticed that the windshield was starting to crack along the bottom edge. I never saw any debris hit it, so I think that it might be the result of a defect. Will the Ford warranty cover my windshield?

Unfortunately, the Ford warranty is unlikely to cover the windshield, as it’s difficult to assume that the damage came from a defect and not from debris or wear and tear. As such, Ford specifically states that the windshield isn’t covered in the fine print of the warranty.
However, you can add two different extended warranty plans to your Ford, just so long as you’re still within the original 3-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty time frame. These two plans are:
  • WindshieldCARE: This plan will pay for a new windshield or repairs to chips and cracks no matter how they’re caused.
  • TripleCARE: This plan includes WindshieldCARE, as well as DentCARE, and TireCARE to protect your windshield and tires, regardless of how the damage happened.
If you don’t get an extended warranty, replacing a Ford windshield often costs between $400 and $500. So if you want to save money for repairs, slash your
