Does the 2018 Acura RDX have transmission problems?

I was driving my Acura RDX the other day and the transmission seemed like it was grinding a bit. There’s no recall on it, but I’m worried that I need to budget for a major repair. Are there transmission problems on the 2018 Acura RDX?

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the 2018
Acura RDX
has no official recalls, but it does have 20 logged formal complaints. According to these complaints, the 2018 Acura RDX has transmission problems that result in several issues:
  • Acceleration without warning
  • Hesitation without warning
  • Total loss of power
  • Jerky shifting
Since you noticed some of these issues, your transmission is probably the culprit. However, you may have a silver lining. Your 2018 Acura RDX may still be under its original 6-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty, which means Acura would fix the problem for free. If you’re outside of the warranty, expect to budget between $2,500 and $3,500 to fix it.
