Does State Farm home insurance cover mold?

We recently discovered mold growing behind the couch in the basement. I know we’re supposed to get the whole place checked out and cleaned. Will my State Farm home insurance cover mold?

So sorry to hear about your mold situation! You’re doing the right thing to deal with the mold immediately.
A standard
homeowners policy
with State Farm does include coverage up to $10,000 for mold remediation, subject to your deductible.
The $10,000 limit is for identifying and repairing mold damage from a
covered peril
That said, most insurance companies, including
State Farm
will not cover the cost of mold damage like the kind you’re describing. Mold is a tricky topic in insurance as it can be difficult to pinpoint a covered peril that caused the damage.
If you’re unsure whether your damage is covered under your policy, reach out to State Farm. An agent can go over your policy’s terms and conditions with you to ensure you understand your coverage.
Should you decide to make changes after reviewing your coverage, consider using
