Does standard renters insurance cover items in a storage unit?
"I have several tools worth over $3,000 that I keep in a storage unit. Will my renters insurance cover these tools if they're stolen or damaged?
“Yes, your renters policy will cover your tools in the storage unit up to a certain percentage, usually 10%. Some renters policies will cover up to 100% of the items you have in storage, so you should check with your insurance agent or company to see if there are any limitations on your policy. “
