Does renters insurance cover moving damage?
I’m in the midst of moving out of my apartment. To save some money, my roommate and I are doing all the moving ourselves. I just broke my favorite chair while trying to get it into the moving truck. Will my renters insurance cover moving damage?

Good luck with your big move! There are specific circumstances where
renters insurance
covers your possessions while moving. That said, any damage caused by you or the movers will not be covered, even if it’s accidental.
However, if your possessions are stolen while moving, you’d have coverage. Other named perils, like water damage or vandalism, will also have coverage.
Although you can’t file a claim for your favorite chair, be sure to look over your policy terms and conditions. Should anything else happen, you may have coverage for damages.
