Does renters insurance cover dogs?

First-time renter here. I’m getting renters insurance and have two golden retrievers. Does renters insurance cover dogs?

Congrats on your new milestone! In general, renters insurance will cover dogs only under personal liability insurance.
If your
dog(s)
injured someone on your rental property, or damaged their property, your
personal liability
coverage would your cover legal expenses up to a certain limit.
Unfortunately, if your pet damages your own belongings or part of the apartment, it’s usually not covered by your renters insurance.
Certain insurance companies have exclusions for breeds considered “high-risk”, so keep that in mind. Since you have two dogs, you’ll want to make sure your insurance company knows about both of them, too.
For your pet’s health needs, you’d need separate pet insurance.
As you continue looking for renters insurance, it’s a good idea to get multiple quotes to compare your coverage options.
