You never know when an unexpected incident with your dog might happen; even the calmest dogs might bite a person if they’re provoked. When it comes to renters insurance, your personal liability protection may cover dog bites on and off your rental property, but read your policy carefully to make sure that’s the case.
Some policies may not cover dog bite injuries at all, while others may limit their coverage to incidents that happen on the property. Also keep in mind that some insurance companies may have exclusions or higher premiums for dog breeds they consider high-risk.
