Does renters insurance cover damage caused by pests?
"I've heard from neighbors that our apartment complex might have a rat infestation. Will my renters insurance cover damages if the rats sneak into my apartment?

“The answer is no — typically, renters insurance policies do not cover pests. If you notice that there are pests in the home, it is best that you notify the landlord as soon as possible so they can get the home treated.
Unfortunately, in most cases, pests are considered to be a sign of the homeowner’s negligence, and that is why renters insurance policies will not cover damage done to your belongings by the pest.
