Does renters insurance cover all occupants?

My friends and I are getting an apartment together for college, and our landlord is requiring us to get renters insurance. This is the first time I’ll be living with roommates, so I don’t really know how this stuff works. Does renters insurance cover all occupants?

Your renters insurance policy will cover you and any relatives who live in your household. However, your renters insurance policy won’t automatically cover your other roommates; they’ll either need to get their own policy or be added to yours.
It’s generally recommended that roommates should get their own renters insurance policies. When you’re on only one policy, your coverage limits will be split among all of you, which could end up leaving you underinsured.
Another perk of each
