Does it matter if you get your home insurance from an agent or a broker?

Is it better to go with an insurance agent or broker? We need home insurance for our new house. We have two quotes, one from a broker and one from an agent.

“While similar, there are key differences between an agent and a broker.
An agent works for one insurance company. When an agent sells you a homeowners insurance policy, they are representing the insurance company.
A broker is a type of agent that works with multiple companies. A broker represents an applicant when working with insurance companies. This often means that they are able to find you a lower rate for the coverage you require and ideally act in your best interest.
If you know what insurance company you want to go with, you may prefer to work with an agent directly. If you aren’t sure what company you’d like to go with, you may want to work with a broker.
Since you already have quotes, you should choose the policy with the best coverage and rate for you. Working with an agent or broker won’t impact the coverage you receive.”
