Does insurance provide coverage if you hit a pole?

"Will my insurance cover the damage to my car? I hit a telephone pole and I didn't call the police since it was just me involved. It didn't look like there was any damage to the pole."

“The type of insurance you have will dictate whether your
car insurance
will provide coverage. If you have
collision car insurance
on your policy, then the damage to your vehicle will be covered.
If you only have
liability car insurance
, the damage to your vehicle won’t be covered. The only damage that would be covered would be any damage to the telephone pole with your
property damage liability
.
If you’re unsure of what coverage you have on your policy, you can reach out to your car insurance company. They’ll be able to provide you with a breakdown of your coverages.
If you don’t have coverage, you’ll need to pay for any repairs out of pocket.”
